Meet our Head of Tay Creggan, Strathcona’s Year 9 campus, Mrs Karyn Murray. She brings passion and inspiration to educating adolescents. Year 9 is a time of curiosity, growth exploration and independence. It’s a crucial time of change and it’s important that girls feel they belong, have a high level of support from family, school and peers and to be actively challenged and engaged in learning.
Strathcona Baptist Girls Grammar School principal Marise McConaghy said phones were a useful learning tool and she was opposed to any ban. She said it was important that students learnt how to manage their phone use.
Year 9 students attended a female-lead entrepreneurial workshop at the Tay Creggan campus.
The workshop invited a panel of successful businesswomen from the League of Extraordinary Women to mentor students as part of the schools TC Envision program.
In their future employment our students will need to act on local and global issues. This will be the case in all areas of employment. They will benefit from being able to take into consideration intercultural differences, along with the ability to break down stereotypes and challenge attitudes.
Strathcona Baptist Girls Grammar School Year 2 student Zoë, along with the support of the Year 6 Green Team — Sienna, Mia, Rajaani and Charlotte — recently wrote a letter to Strathcona’s principal Marise McConaghy, asking for consideration to remove plastic straws at the school canteen.

It’s being described as ‘synergy of discovery’, and the ‘exploration of design innovation’, combining skill sets across subjects like science, art, mathematics and engineering.
One of the finalists for the 2019 awards is Strathcona Baptist Girls Grammar School, which is up for two award categories – Best Student Wellbeing Program and Best STEM Program.
